SPANISH OCCUPATION
Spain, England and France agreed on October 1861 in an armed take over of Mexico
to demand payment of the debts due to them. The Spanish troops headed by General Prim
arrived at Vera Cruz at the beginning of January 1862. In the middle of the same month
a special cancellation was used together with the Mexican cancellation in use at Vera Cruz.
The Spanish army retreated on April 9 of the same year.
